War hero and Brandon Wilde resident Joe Gwaltney was celebrated on his 100th birthday by several local news stations — and by his family and all of us at Brandon Wilde too, of course.
Zayna Haliburton and Cliff Bennett sang “Happy Birthday” to him on CBS 12’s “Morning Mix” Show.
6ABC covered his Brandon Wilde birthday party on the news.
And Fox 54 featured him in an article, “Local war hero celebrates 100th birthday,” on their website.
Gwaltney was in the 82nd Airborne United States Army, serving during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
He rode a glider into D-day during the storming of Normandy and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge.
Happy birthday, Mr. Gwaltney!
