Brandon Wilde’s story began with a vision from Augusta University Hospital and the Augusta Resource Center on Aging Inc. The goal was to create a retirement community where seniors could enjoy independence, connection, and lifelong security. That dream became reality in October 1990 when Brandon Wilde first welcomed residents.
The name itself is steeped in local history: “Brandon” honors the first lasting pioneer settlement in Columbia County, while “Wilde” pays tribute to Augusta poet and statesman Richard Henry Wilde.
What began as 155 apartments, 18 cottages, and care suites has grown into a flourishing Life Plan Community with a wide variety of living options and services.
Milestones have included:
- The Village, with a clubhouse and 46 cottages
- The Preserve, adding 10 additional cottages
- The Windsor House, a dedicated memory care neighborhood
- A 20,000-square-foot wellness center
