Now That’s a Wilde Idea
In October 1990, a determined group at Augusta's University Hospital opened the doors of what would become one of Georgia's most distinguished Life Plan Communities. Brandon Wilde – named to honor the first lasting pioneer settlement in Columbia County and Augusta's own poet and statesman Richard Henry Wilde – launched with 155 apartments, 18 independent living cottages, personal care residences, and skilled nursing suites. It was a comprehensive vision from the very beginning.
What followed was a story of sustained growth and continuous investment in the people and the place. The Village expanded the campus with a Club House and 46 new cottages. The Preserve added 10 more. The Windsor House brought specialized memory care to campus. A 20,000-square-foot Wellness Center elevated the community's already deep commitment to whole-person health. With each addition, the campus grew, reaching 114 expansive acres that continue to evolve today.
More than three decades later, Brandon Wilde stands as the only Life Plan Community offering LifeCare® in Augusta and the Greater Central Savannah River area – a distinction that reflects the ambition of those original founders and the commitment that has defined every year since.
