Hurricane Helene Update 9/27/24 PM
As of September 27, 2024, 12:30pm – The latest forecast calls for 25-35 mph winds, with gusts reaching 60 mph. Columbia County spokesperson strongly advised that you stay off the roadways until the storm has passed.
More than 200,000 Augustans are without power after Hurricane Helene rolled through the area. Georgia Power reported nearly 149,000 customers were without power in Columbia and Richmond counties, as of this afternoon. According to its outage map, Dominion Energy reported nearly 57,000 Aiken County residents were without power.
